Tinago Falls

Iligan City, Lanao del Norte, Northern Mindanao

A 95-meter plunge waterfall hidden at the bottom of 500 steps descending into a ravine outside Iligan City — its name in Maranao means simply "hidden." The plunge pool is deep, cold, and brilliantly turquoise, the walls of the gorge rising sheer on all sides, cutting off every sound from the road above. A small bamboo raft ferries visitors across the pool to the base of the falls. The descent is steep; the reward is complete.
