Lulume is only as good as the people in it. These guidelines exist to protect the quality of the atlas and the trust between members of the community.

Sharing places

Share places you have actually been to

Don’t add places you haven’t visited personally. Lulume is a first-hand atlas, not a scraped directory. If you haven’t been there, don’t share it here.

Write descriptions that help, not hype

Tell people what to expect, when to go, what to order, how to find it. Skip superlatives like “best ever” — give concrete, useful detail instead.

Use your own photos

Only upload photos you took yourself or have explicit permission to use. Do not lift images from other websites, Google Maps, or social media.

Respect privacy and local sensitivities

Do not share the precise locations of places that the local community wishes to keep private — sacred sites, protected habitats, or places whose owners have asked not to be listed publicly.

No commercial listings or promotions

Do not add a place because you own, work at, or have a commercial relationship with it. Lulume is not a business directory. Undisclosed promotional content will be removed.

Be constructive in comments

Comments are for adding context, asking questions, and sharing your experience. They are not for arguments, reviews, or public complaints about a place’s owners or staff.

No harassment or hate

We have zero tolerance for personal attacks, discrimination, threats, or harassment of any kind — towards other members, place owners, or any group of people.

Don't spam or manipulate

Do not artificially inflate save counts, create fake accounts, or use Lulume for SEO manipulation. Do not mass-follow or mass-message users.

Respect intellectual property

Do not post content that infringes on copyright, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights of others.

How we enforce these guidelines

We rely on community reports and our own review to enforce these guidelines. When a violation is found, we may edit or remove the content, issue a warning, temporarily restrict the account, or permanently ban it — depending on severity and history.

First-time minor violations are usually met with a warning and an opportunity to correct the content. Severe violations — spam, harassment, malicious content — may result in immediate permanent removal without warning.

If you see something that violates these guidelines, use the report button on the relevant content or contact us directly. We read every report.
