San Juanico Bridge
Tacloban–Santa Rita, Leyte/Samar, Eastern Visayas
The longest bridge in the Philippines at 2.16 kilometers, San Juanico crosses the narrow San Juanico Strait separating Leyte from Samar, its elegant concrete arches reflected in the glassy tidal channel below. Built in 1973, it has become as much an emblem of Eastern Visayas as the landscape it spans. The best view is from the Leyte approach at golden hour, when the bridge deck disappears into haze above Samar.
