Puraran Beach

Baras, Catanduanes, Bicol

Puraran Beach in Baras is Catanduanes' crown jewel for surfers, exposing a thick and powerful right-hand barrel that Pacific typhoon swells sculpt into walls compared by veteran surfers to Backdoor Pipeline in Hawaii. The beach sits on the rugged eastern coast of Catanduanes, catching raw open-ocean swell offshore on the prevailing southwest winds. With golden sand, coconut groves, and only a handful of small resorts, Puraran maintains an uncrowded, laid-back surf-camp atmosphere year-round.
