Puerto Princesa Subterranean River

Sabang, Puerto Princesa, Palawan, MIMAROPA

An 8.2-kilometer navigable underground river inside a karst mountain β€” UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature. Paddle boats move slowly through the cave while a torch catches a cathedral of stalactites, column formations, and roosting colonies of cave swiftlets overhead. The approach by boat along a jungle coastline, with monkeys and hornbills in the trees, sets the scene before the cave mouth even comes into view.
