Mount Banahaw

Dolores, Quezon

The highest peak in CALABARZON at 2,158 meters, considered a sacred mountain by Filipino folk-religious groups who believe it has healing properties. The forests on its slopes are among the most biodiverse in Luzon. Climbing requires a permit and a guide from Dolores or Kinabuhayan—the trail passes between pilgrims burning incense and biodiversity researchers tagging beetles, a combination found nowhere else.
