Lebak Sand Dunes

An unexpected landscape of wind-sculpted white sand dunes along the Sultan Kudarat coast near Lebak, where the prevailing winds off the Moro Gulf have built dune fields that feel more Saharan than Southeast Asian. The dunes back a fishing village whose residents still use traditional vinta outriggers; the contrast of white sand, turquoise Gulf water, and forest-covered hills behind is one of the more visually surprising scenes in Mindanao, known to almost no one outside the province.
