Las Piñas Bamboo Organ
Inside the parish church of Saint Joseph in Las Piñas stands a pipe organ built in 1818 by Father Diego Cerra using bamboo harvested from nearby forests — the only bamboo organ in the world. Its 1,031 bamboo pipes were treated by burial in sand for two years before installation; the instrument survived 150 years of neglect before being fully restored by Belgian organ builders in 1975. It is still played during Sunday masses and the annual Bamboo Organ Festival in February, when international organists perform to hear what bamboo sounds like when Bach passes through it.
