Lake Salug
Imelda, Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga Peninsula
An oxbow lake formed by a meander of the Salug River in the lowland forest of Zamboanga Sibugay, one of the region's quieter natural areas. The lake supports a freshwater ecosystem rich in egrets, kingfishers, and monitor lizards, and the surrounding wetland forest is one of the few remaining habitats of the Philippine crocodile in western Mindanao. Local guides from the nearby barangay lead early morning paddles when the water is still and the birds are active.
