Lake Mainit
Jabonga, Agusan del Norte / Surigao del Norte, CARAGA
The fourth deepest lake in the Philippines at 223 meters, straddling the boundary of Surigao del Norte and Agusan del Norte. Its name means "hot" in Cebuano, a reference to warm spring inflows visible as heat shimmer on the surface at dawn. The surrounding forest is one of the last significant habitats of the Agusan marsh crocodile, and bird diversity along the lake shore β hornbills, pygmy kingfishers, egrets β rivals any freshwater site in CARAGA.
