Lake Apo (Bukidnon)

Lantapan, Bukidnon, Northern Mindanao

A crater lake at 850 meters in the mountains of Lantapan — not to be confused with Mt. Apo to the south. The lake and its surrounding forest form a protected watershed feeding several rivers that supply Bukidnon's agriculture; Rafflesia species have been recorded in the buffer forest, and the lake shores are thick with tree ferns. Access passes through Manobo ancestral domain, whose guides are essential to finding the trailhead and essential to understanding the forest.
