Kaputian Beach

A long white-sand beach on Samal Island's eastern coast, the nearest major swimming destination for Davao City's residents. The beach faces east and is best at dawn when the rising sun catches the water and the Davao Gulf is still. The resort strip is low-key by Visayas standards — cottages rather than hotels, bancas rather than speedboats — and the short ferry from the city is part of the uncomplicated pleasure of getting here.
