Kapurpurawan Rock Formation

Burgos, Ilocos Norte

Centuries of wind and sea erosion have sculpted brilliant white limestone formations along the Burgos coastline. The name means "whiteness" in Ilocano—an understatement when the rock catches afternoon sun. A short trail from the road emerges onto a coastline that feels like the edge of the world, the formations bleached and jagged against the deep blue of the West Philippine Sea.
