Kabasalan Mangrove Eco-Park

Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga Peninsula

An extensive mangrove forest along the Kabasalan River estuary, managed by the local government as a community conservation area since the early 2000s. Elevated bamboo walkways thread through the canopy at mid-tide, and the roots below shelter juvenile fish, mud crabs, and fiddler crabs in numbers that make the area a productive nursery for the surrounding fishery. At high tide, the walkways sit just above the waterline and the forest closes over you in green silence.
