Initao National Park
Initao, Misamis Oriental, Northern Mindanao
A compact protected area on the Misamis Oriental coast where limestone karst forest meets a fringing coral reef. The park protects one of northern Mindanao's last viable flying lemur colonies β the gliding mammals roost in the canopy by day and are best spotted at dusk from the forest trail. Offshore, the reef wall is a productive shallow-dive site rich in nudibranchs, lionfish, and β during the sardine season β occasional whale sharks passing the point.
