Enchanted River

Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, CARAGA

A short river in Hinatuan that flows from an unknown underground source into the sea — its depth has never been accurately measured, and divers who have descended into the spring have found passages that go beyond recreational diving limits. The water is an impossible cobalt that deepens to midnight blue at the center; a noon fish feeding draws clouds of snappers and groupers to the surface in a spectacle that seems choreographed. The source of the river, and the color, remain scientifically unexplained.
