◇Hidden gem
Capones Island
San Antonio, Zambales
A small island 3.8 kilometers off the Zambales coast, its rocky headland topped by an 1890s Spanish-era lighthouse that remains operational. The west-facing beach is a white crescent with rich snorkeling around the reef fringe. The lighthouse trail is 15 minutes of steep scramble—at the top, the full breadth of the West Philippine Sea opens to the horizon in every direction.
