Barasoain Church

Malolos, Bulacan

The Romanesque church in Malolos where the First Philippine Republic was inaugurated in 1899—the birthplace of Philippine democracy. The church itself dates to 1859, but its Congress hall, where Apolinario Mabini read the draft constitution aloud, is the room that changed the country. One of the most historically significant buildings in all of Southeast Asia.
