ABCD Beach (Calicoan Island)
Guiuan, Eastern Samar, Eastern Visayas
The surf break on Calicoan Island's eastern coast β facing the open Pacific β is one of the longest and most consistent in the Visayas, built for shortboards when the northeast swell runs. The beach is dramatic: dark rocky headlands, coconut palms bent seaward, wave after wave arriving from thousands of miles of open ocean. Guiuan serves as the base, a town still rebuilding after Typhoon Haiyan with remarkable quiet dignity.
